Registration at the New England Journal of Medicine is worth it for “Crossing Borders [3],” a perspective piece by Marlene Martin, MD. Candace, Specialist in Clinical Systems and Women’s Health, says, “it covers the motivations for migrating, the generosity of spirit of the Latino culture, the lack of appreciation of the contributions of immigrants in the US, and the bizarre impact of our current political scene on all of us -- all in two pages!”

Karen, CEO, loved her History of Racial Injustice 2018 calendar, from the Equal Justice Initiative. “I found a year full of inescapable truths a profound reminder of our past and important to consider as we move forward day to day.” You can get the 2019 History of Racial Injustice calendar [4] on their website.

Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, encouraged us to listen to Radio Lab’s Border Trilogy [5] -- a set of three podcasts exploring migrants’ deaths while trying to cross the border.

Del, Director of International Projects and Emerging Issues, offered up three book recommendations: Far Away Brothers, by Lauren Markham; Enrique's Journey, by Sonia Nazario; and The Devil's Highway, by Luis Alberto Urrea. She also sent us over to the Marshall Project [6], which compiled a great list of 2018 books related to criminal justice.
