1. Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, sent the National Immigration Law Center’s Issue Brief on the expansion of federal matching funds that states receive for covering children and pregnant women in the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Read more [2] about why NILC believes this is a time for advocates “to encourage their states to increase access to affordable health coverage for their residents, including more immigrant children and pregnant women.”
2. Jillian, Director of Education and Professional Development, forwarded Farmworker Justice’s asking organizations to sign onto a letter calling for stronger regulations [3] for sheepherder and other open range livestock worker positions. The letter is a comment on the Department of Labor’s recommended new regulations, which double the basic wages and require improved housing for sheepherders. Farmworker Justice believes the regulations need further strengthening.
3. Jillian also sent along Farmworker Justice’s statement [4] regarding the 5th Circuit’s decision yesterday to deny the Department of Justice’s request to stay the temporary injunction of DAPA and expanded DACA.
