Did you know that people with diabetes have a two to three times higher risk for tuberculosis (TB) than people without diabetes? Worldwide, TB is one of the most common infectious diseases, and it remains a serious health problem for high-risk groups in the United States. Join the National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) and experts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Tuberculosis Elimination as we explore the surprising connections between diabetes and TB. Learn about who is at risk for TB and the epidemiology of TB and diabetes in the United States. We will explore how the two conditions interact and help you understand the impact of TB and diabetes on outcomes for both conditions. You will also hear about opportunities to collaborate with TB programs to make referrals for people at risk for TB, identify people at risk for diabetes, and improve awareness and education for people with and at-risk for both conditions.The NDEP is a joint program of the CDC and the National Institutes of Health.
