#Amplify Health Justice: 24 hours to donate to MCN through @AmplifyATX

Austin: It’s not only the incubator of groundbreaking music for the entire nation, nor just Texas’s state capital. It’s not all about breakfast tacos and barbecue, here, either: Austin is also the home of Migrant Clinicians Network since its birth in 1984. Today, we’re celebrating our Austin roots through #AmplifyATX [3], a 24-hour fundraiser to amplify the efforts of Austin area nonprofits like MCN that starts at 6pm Central tonight.

MCN is known for its national and international impact -- Health Network has worked with clinics and health departments across the US and in 114 countries and counting -- but we have a local focus as well. The Ventanilla de Salud Austin [4], in partnership with Migrant Clinicians Network and the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin, provides culturally appropriate health education, free health screenings, and referrals to community health services via Health Network. At the Ventanilla, Health Network Associate Roxana Pineda has increased health and wellness fairs from once a month to now weekly Friday health fairs. Three times a month at these fairs, immunizations are provided, free of charge, to anyone who needs them, regardless of nationality or immigration status.  Kidney checks, blood pressure and diabetes screenings, eye exams, and plenty of health education and resources are offered regularly as well.
