Many advances have occurred since March 24 of 1882, the day that Dr. Robert Koch discovered the cause of tuberculosis. There is still much left to do in order to eradicate this disease on a global level. For example:
- Tuberculosis (TB) is second only to HIV/AIDS as the greatest killer worldwide due to a single infectious agent.
- The TB death rate dropped 41% between 1990 and 2011.
- In 2011, about 80% of reported TB cases occurred in 22 countries.
- People who are co-infected with HIV and TB are 21 to 34 times more likely to become sick with TB

TBNet [2] maintains its firm commitment of collaborating, and actively participating in the fight against TB on a global scale. The program has provided bridge case management for patients from over 70 countries and has a completion rate of 85.4% (cases being classified as Treatment Completed). The program has been able to bridge and promote continuity of hundreds of patients with TB and facilitate coordination around the world. These patients and their families now live TB-free. We hope that investment of capital, dedication and effort can translate to eradicating this disease in our generation.

Han sido muchos los avances desde 24 de Marzo de 1882, este fue el día en que el Dr. Robert Koch descubrió la causa de la Tuberculosis. Aun falta mucho más para erradicar esta enfermedad a nivel mundial. Por ejemplo:
- Tuberculosis (TB) es solamente la segunda enfermedad mortal por agente infeccioso único detrás de VIH/SIDA
- La taza de mortalidad de TB bajo al 41% entre 1990 y 2011
- En 2011, casi 80% de los casos reportados de TB ocurrieron en 22 países
- Las personas co-infectadas con VIH y TB son 21-34 veces mas aptas a enfermarse con TB

TBNet se mantiene firme en su compromiso de colaborar y participar activamente en la lucha contra la TB a nivel mundial. El programa ha enlazado por medio del manejo de casos a paciente en mas de 70 países teniendo una taza de pacientes terminando tratamiento del 85.4% (Casos siendo con la clasificación final denominada Tratamiento Completo). El programa ha podido enlazar y promover el seguimiento de cientos de pacientes con TB en varios países a través del mundo. Estos pacientes y sus familias ahora viven sin TB. Esperamos que con la inversión de capital, dedicación, y esmero se pueda erradicar esta enfermedad en esta generación.
