Spring has sprung! The first day of spring -- most evident in the early harvests of asparagus, lettuces, and other tender crops in the markets today -- arrives just a few days before the start of National Farmworker Awareness Week. The Student Action for Farmworkers (SAF) [2] encourages organizations to take action to support farmworkers in their communities or nationwide. For example, this year, the Association for Farmworker Opportunity Programs (AFOP) is organizing a long-sleeve shirt drive [2] for farmworkers.
