Another very busy week! Even with the holidays now upon us, we at MCN are still at full speed ahead, fighting for health justice for the mobile poor. Here is a handful of articles that we at MCN found informative and eye-opening this week. We hope you enjoy them too.
1. Claire, Writer & Editor, notes that today is the final day of negotiations in Paris at the UN Climate Summit. Our world’s action (or inaction) on climate change affects the health of millions of people worldwide, but the poor in developing countries are hit hardest, as evidenced in this World Food Programme map, “Food Insecurity and Climate Change.”
2. Olivia, Health Network Associate, recommends this New York Times Magazine piece entitled. “The Deported,” which covers the life before and after deportation of a Honduran who lacks authorization to live in the US, but whose family waits for him to return in Kansas City.
3. Karen, CEO, offered this blog post from the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), “Human Trafficking Under the Spotlight on Capitol Hill,” noting that one in three human trafficking victims in the United States is Asian American/Pacific Islander.
4. Amy, Director of Environmental & Occupational Health, forwarded on this Pump Handle blog post: “Physician burnout up 10 percent in just three years.”
5. Ileana, Senior Advisor for Scientific & Strategic Planning, recommends this New York Times blog post, “What Happens to Childhood When You Start Counting Steps?”
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
