Engagement | 30 Days, 30 Clinicians

Printer-friendly version

MNC Rebecca Bixby [Editor’s Note: Happy Birthday, Migrant Clinicians Network! To celebrate our 30th anniversary this month, we are highlighting one clinician each day who has been honored in 30 Clinicians Making a Difference, in which we profile the work of 30 diverse migrant clinicians from across the country and abroad.]

An exciting aspect of our 30 Clinicians Making a Difference project was watching the local communities of our clinicians celebrate the honor through newsletter announcements, links on health center websites, and Facebook posts. Most of our clinicians are located in small communities, and, for many of our clinicians, their selection for the honor made headlines in the local paper.

Some local papers that featured full-length print articles about the honorees for 30 Clinicians Making a Difference include the Eastern Shore Post in Virginia (covering Erika Peterson), the Herald-Palladium in Michigan (covering Megan Danielson), and the Yakima Herald (covering Mark Koday). In an odd twist, the wonderful article in the Northwest Herald in Illinois about Elizabeth Rios has been syndicated, and is popping up in unlikely places, like San Francisco’s SFGate and the Idaho Statesman.

The Unionville Times, the local paper for Rebecca Bixby, CRNP, picked up on the story in early April. Bixby, the medical director of La Comunidad Hispana in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, was featured as one of the 30 Clinicians Making a Difference, and as a newly-selected fellow for the Duke-Johnson & Johnson Nurse Leadership program. Congratulations to Rebecca Bixby on both accounts! Read her profile here.

Help us honor the work of Rebecca Bixby by sharing her profile. And, make sure to check out the profiles of all 30 clinicians at the 30 Clinicians Making a Difference webpage.
