MCNWhile in the MCN offices we celebrated the awarding of the Cares Award to Health Network and the publication of our op-ed on tuberculosis, we kept our finger to the pulse of health justice in the US. Here are some stories you may have missed, recommended by MCN staff.

1. Kerry, Environmental and Occupational Health Program Manager, told us, “Every worker has the right to a safe and healthy workplace. OSHA's recently updated workers' rights page emphasizes employer responsibilities and workers' rights. It is bilingual English/Spanish and provides a comprehensive list of resources for workers."

2. Alma, Health Network Associate, sent a Telegraph article on UK immigration advisors’ new plan to charge businesses 1000 British pounds per non-EU immigrant they hire.

3. Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, shared a radio interview about Zika virus.

4. Ileana, Senior Advisor for Scientific and Strategic Planning, saw a heartbreaking movie over the weekend: “No Más Bebés tells the story of a little-known but landmark event in reproductive justice, when a small group of Mexican immigrant women sued county doctors, the state, and the U.S. government after they were sterilized while giving birth at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center during the late 1960s and early 1970s.”

5. Juliana, Environmental and Occupational Health Program Manager, shared a “heartbreaking read” from the Washington Post article entitled, “Overwhelmed federal officials released immigrant teens to traffickers in 2014.”
