While the country’s major election dominated the headlines, other stories on the health needs of vulnerable populations slipped between the cracks. Here are a few articles that MCN staff shared this week.
- Jillian, Director of Professional Development and Education, sent along the announcement that a 23-page primer on TB, recently published in the journal Nature Reviews Disease Primers can be downloaded for free for the next month.
- Claire, Writer and Editor, shared the pre-election New York Times article that shared some touching personal stories: “Undocumented Migrants, Free Now to Visit Mexico, Face Iffy Future.”
- Ricardo, Health Network Manager, responded to Claire’s article with two more personal stories, from from radio station WNYC: “Growing Up Without Parents, Life After Deportation” and “Political Climate Makes Radio Rookie's Legal Status Uncertain.”
- Jessica, Grant Writer, showed us Open Society Foundations’ Instagram feed, which features photos taken by Markel Redondo of the causes and consequences of migration in Mexico. It starts on the right side of the feed; click a picture to read the story.
- Candace, Specialist in Women’s Health, says, “Click on this link for a graphic that shows how dire the clinical staffing needs are at health centers..2 million more patients could be served if those vacancies were filled!”
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
