Happy New Year! May 2019 bring health and happiness -- and justice. We’re working hard to bring health justice to the mobile poor in the new year, and we’re grateful for all of your support as we forge ahead. Here are the top five recommendations from MCN staff for this week. What did you read that you’d like to share? Email chutkins-seda@migrantclinician.org and let us know.
Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, shared “Communities in Crisis: Interior Removals and Their Human Consequences,” a report from the Center for Migration Studies that examines “the characteristics of deportees and the effects of deportation, and to place them in a broader policy context.”
Amy also shared this week’s Fresh Air opinion piece on NPR: “Migrant Girl's Death Reveals A Need For More Interpreters Along The Border.”
Karen, CEO, shared this podcast with Dr. David Katz: “Starting 2019 Right, Lifestyle as Medicine: Dr. David Katz on Power of Nutrition in Prevention and Health.”
Amy also shared, “Migrant child died after release from detention, attorneys group alleges.”
Laszlo, Co-Chief Medical Officer, listened to “Pediatricians Voice Concerns About Care Following Two 'Needless' Migrant Deaths,” which features MCN’s Board Chair, Dr. Marsha Griffin.
Claire, Writer and Editor, shared the Civil Eats article, “Why Food Insecurity Is a Global Farmworker Issue.”
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
