Another very full week here at Migrant Clinicians Network! Here are some updates from the world of public health and health justice that we thought you’d enjoy, chosen by MCN staff members.

Amy shared a long-form piece on workers’ compensation in California and work injuries among workers lacking authorization to work, “Second Class,” part of a series of reports on the most vulnerable workers in California, called “Unseen.”

Jillian sent around another long one: “This article is long but provides a really good overview of the many complicated issues that led to the disastrous fire here last year as well as the many looming questions after life in the aftermath. As is always the case, nothing is simple,” she said.

Del was impressed with Protecting Immigrant Families’ new resources released this week, including “Who Does ‘The Public Charge Test’ Apply To? A Resource for Advocates and Service Providers” and “The Invisible Wall: Policies that Threaten Immigrant Families.” PIF also put together a new collection of resources from partner organizations.

Weekly Win: Candace shared this newly released WHO/UNICEF report that found that maternal deaths are down by 35 percent worldwide: “Maternal Mortality: Levels and Trends, 2000 to 2017.”
