Friday is here! MCN staff have been forwarding and recommending dozens of resources and news pieces all week, about health justice, migrants and immigrants, clinicians on the frontlines, and vulnerable populations. Who knew that the pace of the news cycle could speed up even more? Here is a selection of five of the pieces we shared among ourselves this week. What deserves to be on the list? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
Deliana shared this policy brief on the impact of the CARES Act and other stimulus bills on immigrant communities, from the National Immigration Law Center.
Karen shared the op-ed “Let These Children Go,” which discusses the health risks of keeping children at immigration detention centers despite the spread of COVID-19.
Candace shared an article in US News and World Report: Can Community Health Centers Survive the Coronavirus Fight?
Amy also shared, “Migrant child died after release from detention, attorneys group alleges.”
Kaethe forwarded on, “Foreign Doctors on Front Lines of COVID-19 Fear Deportation from US.”
Weekly Win: We celebrated the funding boost for community health centers provided by HRSA this week! Candace shared, “HHS Awards $1.3 Billion to Health Centers in Historic US Response to COVID-19.”
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
