It’s hot out there! It’s important to stay safe when outside, particularly for workers who may toil for many hours during the hottest hours of the day. Here’s a special heat-related Five on Friday. Stay cool!
Amy recommends “Farmworkers at Risk: The Growing Dangers of Pesticide and Heat,” a report published late last year in English and Spanish.
Claire found this article sobering: “Florida farm workers endure 116 dangerously hot working days every growing season. Laws to protect them have failed three years in a row.”
Claire also shared, “Cities Brace For ‘Collision Course’ Of Heat Waves And COVID-19.”
Amy also shared, “Migrant child died after release from detention, attorneys group alleges.”
Candace forwarded on the recent article, “Association of Air Pollution and Heat Exposure With Preterm Birth, Low Birth Weight, and Stillbirth in the US: A Systematic Review.”
Weekly Win: Alma shared a great new resource from the CDC, “Heat & Health Tracker,” which “provides local heat and health information so communities can better prepare for and respond to extreme heat events.”
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
