EPA Webinar: A National Conversation – Protecting Farmworkers from Pesticides

Printer-friendly version

You can make a difference in the protection of farmworkers.

Join MCN and the Environmental Protection Agency on March 5 for a national conversation about the Work Protection Standard (WPS).  After 20 years, the federal government is calling for stronger regulations to protect farmworkers and their families from pesticide exposure.  Improvements are needed in a number of areas including safety training requirements, safety precautions limiting farmworkers’ contact with pesticides, medical monitoring and mechanisms to strengthen enforcement of workplace protections.  You can play an essential role in ensuring farmworkers get the protection they deserve.  Join us for a review of the current status of the WPS, an exploration of improvements that can be made, and a discussion of strategies we can all employ to make change happen. We welcome questions and look forward to including you in this conversation.
Objectives:

1) Understand important changes in the newly proposed Worker Protection Standard.

2) Learn why clinician participation is essential in making sure these regulations are the strongest possible.

3) Be familiar with the process to summit public comments to support a strong worker protection standard.
