Each spring, the National Center for Medical-Legal Partnership hosts a national conference that brings together hundreds of leaders in government, law, medicine, nursing, public health and social work to share ideas, insights and best practices about how integrating legal care into health care can help combat health-harming social conditions. The Summit aims to bridge education, practice and policy by helping participants: (1) Better understand how medical-legal partnership fits within the broader health care and civil legal aid landscapes and advances their work; (2) Develop new skills and knowledge to apply to their own medical-legal partnership practice; and (3) Network with other MLP practitioners. It is intended for (1) civil legal aid lawyers and paralegals, community health workers, doctors, patient navigators, public health practitioners, nurses, and social workers; (2) faculty, researchers and students from law, medical, nursing, public health and social work schools; and (3) representatives from government and professional associations related to law, medcine, nursing, public health and social work. Past Summits have been approved for professional credit for doctors, lawyers, nurses, and social workers who attend. This year’s Summit will pay particular attention to how partners are re-orienting their practice, policies or data collection efforts in the interest of more efficient and meaningful collaboration.http://medical-legalpartnership.org/national-center/summit/
