NWRPCA is pleased to offer the Behavioral Health Integration training, sponsored in part by Idaho Primary Care Association. The integration of behavioral health in primary care is a paramount issue for health centers all over the country. No longer does anyone need to be convinced as to why it is important, but rather health centers simply need to know how to do it efficiently and effectively. Cherokee Health Systems has evolved a fully integrated practice over the last 40 years across its East Tennessee service area; it is a model that has been recognized as an exemplar practice by NCQA and a number of other state and national organizations. You will learn not only the intricacies of the clinical approach, but also the vital administrative, operational, financial and collaborative components that support and sustain the model. No one in the country has the depth and experience in all of these functions to match that of Cherokee Health Systems. On Day One of the training, participants will have a detailed understanding of the integrated care clinical model, the day-to-day operations of the integrated care model and the financial sustainability of the integrated care model. Day Two puts the content from Day One into action, employing discussions and clinical and administrative case studies that demonstrate key issues related to the model, operations and finance. At the end of the training, participants will: 1) Be able to explain the “why,” “what” and “how” of integrated care, 2) Be able to describe, in general terms, the role of the behavioral health consultant (BHC) and how BHCs are different from traditional therapists. 3) Be able to list 4 critical success factors in integrated care implementation & 4) Be able to describe, in general terms, value-based contracts and their application to integrated care sustainability.
