Project ECHO Distance Learning
After the MAHC 1 course’s four days of training, clinical leaders return to their federally funded health centers across the country eager to enact many of the lessons learned. Next Steps enables MAHC 1 graduates to integrate their knowledge through our unique Project ECHO distance learning opportunity.
Next Step Opportunity
Migrant Clinicians Network brings together clinical experts and fellow MAHC participants in the six-month Next Step Project ECHO. Through peer learning, expert consultation, and ongoing engagement, medical directors and clinical leaders get live and ongoing insight to integrate the lessons of MAHC 1 at their health centers.
Participants engage in eight 1.5-hour video conferences designed after the highly successful Project ECHO model of case-based learning, peer engagement, and distance communication, to create rapid and significant change in practice in health centers. Next Step is structured around the key elements of the MAHC 1 course including: financial management, provider scheduling, compensation, leadership, employee motivation, clinical operations, conflict resolution, managing change, PCMH, and health centers in the world of public policy. Each session of the conversation builds on the content learned at the MAHC course and allows participants to bring real-world management cases back to the MAHC 1 learning group to receive feedback from peers as well as the course faculty. Through this ongoing process, clinical leaders significantly expand their skills and knowledge and are much more successful at applying the knowledge gained from the MAHC 1 course to day-to-day leadership and management challenges at their own health centers. Each peer learning session is accredited for continuing medical education.
