Merck launches National Advertising campaign for HPV vaccine

Merck & Co., Inc. announced the launch of a national print, television and online advertising campaign for the world’s first cervical cancer vaccine, GARDASIL® [Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus (Types 6, 11, 16, 18) Recombinant Vaccine]. Adding to Merck's ongoing cervical cancer and HPV education efforts, the new campaign, called One Less, encourages females who are eligible for the vaccine to begin their vaccination series and to also continue to see their doctor for regular healthcare and screening.

Pesticide Drift Sickens Farmworkers, 9/22/06

About 45 farmworkers harvesting fruit in the orchards of the San Joaquin Delta in California were exposed to Di-Syston, an acutely toxic organophosphate pesticide, sprayed by a crop duster treating a nearby asparagus field, according a Sacramento Bee article published on September 22, 2006.

CITI - Collaborative IRB Training Initiative

Recertification is required every 3 years after initial certification. Researchers must take the Basic Course for your Learner Group for recertification. After this, you are only required to complete the “Refresher Course” for recertification. Recertification is required every 3 years.

The October issue of the Heptalk Listerv covers: 1. “Incorporating Sexual Risk Assessment in Routine Visits for Gay and Bisexual Men” Though targeted towards a narrower population, is applicable in most routine visit situations. Also includes some good specific questioning techniques. 2. Sexual History Taking. A complete module, in pdf form from the New England National Network of STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers, using 4 case studies. It reads easily and quickly and has many good suggestions.
