Trainings and Materials available through 2012 Heat Illness Prevention Campaign

This summer Cal/OSHA is taking a multi-faceted approach to protecting California’s outdoor workers from heat illness that includes a combination of media, education, outreach and enforcement efforts.

The radio and outdoor advertising span much of the state, and are enhanced by educational resources in five languages – Spanish, Hmong, Punjabi, Mixteco and English. Strategically targeting the most underserved population of outdoor workers, the campaign addresses heat safety precautions and worker rights.

Rising Rates of Pertussis in Washington State

The State of Washington Department of Health has issued the following message for health care providers regarding pertussis in the state.

Dear Colleague:

Pertussis (whooping cough) is reaching epidemic levels in our state. So far in 2012 more than 600 cases have been reported, compared to fewer than 100 cases in the same time period in 2011. This puts us on track to have the highest number of cases in decades.

HRSA’s Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) is pleased to announce the release of Program Assistance Letter (PAL) 2012-02, “Calendar Year (CY) 2013 Requirements for Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) Medical Malpractice Coverage for Health Centers.” This PAL addresses the process that health centers must take in order to submit their FTCA deeming and redeeming applications for calendar year 2013.
