Announcing our Health Justice Plan

Health Justice

“Migrant Clinicians Network works to engage members of our clinical network and all relevant stakeholders to advance health justice for the mobile poor. We believe that migratory status should not be a barrier to care.”

Today, we released our updated health justice page, to clearly articulate the efforts in which we engage, on behalf of our clinician constituents and the mobile underserved populations that we serve together. We view each agenda item through the lens of a clinician, exploring the health implications of the chosen topics on mobile and/or underserved populations in the US and around the world.

Our new health justice framework, which is sustained year after year, outlines our role in advocacy and our overarching goals. Our health justice agenda will be updated at the start of each calendar year, and features the current year’s advocacy priorities. At the end of each year, we will assess our work in each of the agenda items in a year-end review. It is heartening to see significant progress in many of the areas we chose at the start of the year, like in securing paid rest breaks for piece workers in Washington State. Here are this year’s agenda items:

  • Border Surge Health
  • Worker Protection Standard
  • Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown Etiology
  • Anencephaly
  • Paid Rest Breaks for Piece Workers
  • Pesticide Drift
  • Women’s Human Rights
  • Immigration Policy
