Printer-friendly version

mcn festive five on fridayAs we begin the countdown to the end of the year, we at Migrant Clinicians Network are celebrating all the successes we have had this year -- and we’re already revving up for a very busy 2016. Support our work: please give to MCN this month. Between now and December 31st, your tax-deductible donations will have double the impact, with our $1 for $1 matching grant. Your donations make a big difference to ensure that we can get our work done! Thank you for all of your support. Without further ado, here are the top five reads from MCN staff this week -- the last one of the year, since our offices are closed for Friday, December 25th and Friday, January 1st!

1. Del, Director of International Projects, Research, and Development, sent her congratulations to Bethany Boggess, a one-time MCN intern, and the Worker's Defense Project for their victory in getting rest breaks for construction workers

2. Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, shared this newly released Human Rights Watch report on child labor on US tobacco farms.

3. Ricardo, Health Network Manager, forwarded on this job announcement from Maine Migrant Health Program for a year-round, full-time Creole-speaking Community Health Worker.

4. Saul, Health Network Associate, shared this heartbreaking video about newborns addicted to drugs, a reminder of what’s at stake for pregnant addicts.

5. Ileana, Senior Advisor for Scientific and Strategic Planning, sent along the Seattle Times’ front-page story on the increase of cases of anencephaly in Washington State. Former MCN specialist Dr. Jennie McLaurin is quoted.

We wish you good health and well-being in 2016. Happy Holidays.
