MCN CHW WebinarsOur popular and well-rated webinar series has passed its halfway point. Next week’s webinar, Evaluación de las Necesidades De La Comunidad (Community Needs Assessment) is the sixth in the ten-webinar Spanish-language series for promotores de salud, or community health workers. The series, entitled Principios de Salud Pública para Promotores (Principles of Public Health for Community Health and Outreach Workers) continues to be well attended, and exceptionally highly rated in attendee evaluations. The upcoming webinar is slated for Wednesday, June 17th at 10am Pacific time. Registration remains open for all five remaining webinars in the series.

“I personally think that this webinar is one of the most important webinars of our series,” declared Ileana Ponce-Gonzalez, MD, MPCH, CNC, Senior Advisor for Scientific and Strategic Planning for MCN, and the organizer of the series. “According to the World Health Organization, needs assessments contribute to planning and delivering the most effective care to those in greatest need. As community champions, we are engaged in a democratic process which increases members’ knowledge and ownership of activities, policies, and procedures. This results in an environment where our communities have better access to information. Whether we are inside, outside, or somewhere in between the communities we’re organizing with, MCN hopes this webinar will illuminate ways to become a more effective activist and respond to broader needs.”

Last month’s webinar, entitled Cultura y Salud, received a 92% overall satisfaction rating by participants, in line with the stellar ratings of earlier segments of the series. When asked to rate from zero to ten, “How helpful was the information you learned today in enhancing the performance and operations of your health center?” -- the overall average was nine out of ten! We look forward to continuing to bring timely, engaging, and much-needed information to community health workers in the final half of our webinar series.
