Strife in Central America, scholarships for Mexican Texans, and peer-to-peer phone consultation on substance abuse are some of this week’s stories affecting the health and well-being of mobile patients, shared by MCN staff.
1. Karen, CEO, is interested by Clinician Consultation Center’s free and confidential peer-to-peer telephone consultation, the Substance Use Warmline, focusing on substance use evaluation and management for primary care clinicians in health centers. With special expertise in pharmacotherapy options for opioid use, addiction medicine-certified physicians, clinical pharmacists, and nurses are available at 1.855.300.3595, M -F, 10am to 6pm EST. 2. Ricardo, Health Network Manager, shared this LA Times article, “More Central Americans fleeing violence to enter U.S., suggesting another major surge.”
3. Del, Director of International Projects, Research, and Development, celebrated the launch of MEXAUSTIN scholarships for university-bound students, offered through a collaboration between the Consulate General of Mexico in Austin, the Foundation Communities, and the Institute for Mexicans Abroad.
4. Ileana noted that highlights from the recent APHA conference are now online.
