Hot July evenings lend themselves well to a lemonade and a paperback. What’s on your summer reading list? Often, with social justice advocates, the latest romance novel just won’t do. Del offered up the Marshall Project’s reading list if you are looking for a good read that also covers important aspects of criminal justice. Got a book to recommend? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter! In the meantime, here are a few good reads on health justice, recommended by MCN staff.
- Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, forwarded on this paper from her Maryland colleagues on the health care access for immigrants on the Eastern Shore.
- Ricardo, Health Network Manager, challenges you to a pop quiz on your public health knowledge. What’s your score?
- Karen, Chief Executive Officer, recommends WorkCompCentral’s newly published case studies demonstrating the financial impact of temporary work injury to two Californians. Additional reports highlighting other states are available.
- Leslie, Health Network Associate, recommends three recently opened exhibits at the Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin, focusing on the farmworker experience in Austin and throughout the US, including Bittersweet Harvest, a bilingual exhibition that explores the bracero program.
- Theressa, Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator, recommends National Center for Farmworker Health’s new Colorectal Cancer Screening Digital Story in English and Spanish, a good resource to assist health centers in meeting the clinical performance measure on colorectal cancer screening.
