As the holidays ramp up, our free time gets sucked away. Here, we’ve collected five health justice pieces that MCN staff read this week, in case you missed some of the stories that matter. What did you read that you recommend to us? Let us know on Facebook.
Jess recommended this great article from her local paper, the Chico Enterprise-Record: “Spanish-Speaking Camp Fire Survivors Face Language, Immigration Barriers.”
Candace recommended this USA Today article -- she says they’re running a series: “Wisconsin's Dairy Industry Would Collapse Without the Work of Latino Immigrants – Many of Them Undocumented.”
Alma in Massachusetts shared a perspective on the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, “‘Close to Slavery’ or Legalization? The Farmworkers’ Hard Choice.”
Amy also shared, “Migrant child died after release from detention, attorneys group alleges.”
Amy sent in a new NIOSH Science Blog post about workers and bathroom breaks.
Weekly Win: Claire shared this Direct Relief blog post, which highlights health centers’ efforts to stay open during disasters and support the community during the long-haul recovery: “Natural Disasters are Getting Worse. Health Centers are Joining the Response.”
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
