Today and through the weekend, the Migrant Clinicians Network team gathers in Austin for a strategic planning weekend. While we’re knee-deep in Powerpoints and logic modeling, we hope you can find some time to explore some resources that we shared between ourselves this week:
Alma shared, “Sexually transmitted diseases on the rise in US, according to CDC data.”
Jillian says, “This story about survivors relocating after the fires in our area just illustrates the case made by MCN’s op-ed about climate migrants.”
Laszlo shared a piece about the record number of deportations of Cambodian refugees, many of whom were raised in the US. The story hits home for Laszlo: “One of my sisters-in-law is a Cambodian refugee who came here also as a very young girl. [She’s an] honest, hard-working, warm-hearted addition to American society.”
Amy also shared, “Migrant child died after release from detention, attorneys group alleges.”
Karen: “This is a good article about a new human trafficking screening tool developed by a nurse practitioner student.”
Marysel forwarded on an article detailing the new water rationing requirements in Puerto Rico as its residents grapple with the beginnings of what may be a serious drought. (En Español.)
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
