It’s summer solstice! Before you head out to enjoy an extra-long light-filled evening, take a moment to read five of the news pieces that we shared among ourselves here at MCN this week.
Karen shared a piece from Australia, “High Stillbirth Rates in Migrant and Refugee Women Can Be Prevented.” She also sent an article about what happens when a migrant child crosses the border.
Alma shared a Washington Post article, “‘The American Dream has turned into hell’: Juarez scrambles before U.S. dumps migrants.”
Amy couldn’t help logging in during her vacation to send this Civil Eats article, “Climate-Change Fueled Valley Fever Hits Farmworkers Hard.” Karen also sent the NBC News video on the same topic, which features an interview with a Central Valley farmworker and clinician.
Amy also shared, “Migrant child died after release from detention, attorneys group alleges.”
Claire sent, “'Climate Grief': The Growing Emotional Toll of Climate Change.”
Marysel forwarded this article (in Spanish) about how community health centers saved lives after Hurricane Maria.
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
