Another very full week here at Migrant Clinicians Network! Here are some updates from the world of public health and health justice that we thought might be helpful to you, chosen by MCN staff members.
Karen shared the announcement of the next National Advisory Council on Migrant Health meeting in November. Read more on the council and access the agenda here.
Congrats to Laz, MCN’s Chief Medical Officer, for his article published this week on STAT News: “What the US Can Learn from Rwandan Refugee Camps: Treat Public Health Seriously.”
Amy shared the NPR article, “Fewer Children Had Health Insurance In 2018 Than Year Before, Census Data Shows.”
Amy also shared, “Migrant child died after release from detention, attorneys group alleges.”
Jillian recommended “Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health: A Core Course for the Whole Care Team,” the National LGBT Health Education Center’s three-day CME course at Harvard which begins November 1st.
Weekly Win: Claire share the San Francisco Chronicle opinion piece from the owners of Clif Bar Co., expounding on the importance of migrant farmworkers: “Migrant Farmworkers Deserve Respect — and a Path to Citizenship.”
