Welcome back to Five on Friday, your weekly rundown of news and resources on migrant health and beyond, chosen by Migrant Clinicians Network staff. COVID-19 once again dominated the news cycle and our own inboxes, and we share some of the pieces we hope you’ll find useful and informative. Have a great weekend – stay safe!
Kaethe offered up this Spanish-language picture book for children about COVID-19, Mi heroína eres tú.
Kaethe also forwarded on the announcement of a July 28th webinar, “The Health Crisis on the Northern Mexico Border: Cross-Border Implications of U.S. Immigration Policies.”
Amy shared the American Public Health Association’s announcement of COVIDGuia.org, a Spanish language resource guide.
Amy also shared, “Migrant child died after release from detention, attorneys group alleges.”
Claire forwarded the announcement that this week’s episode PBS Frontline featured a story on COVID-19 and farmworkers, “COVID’s Hidden Toll.”
Weekly Win: Karen shared the good news out of Virginia -- the emergency order to protect the state’s workers from COVID-19. This brings the total to 14 states with mandatory worker protections around COVID-19.
