We’re headed into the weekend once again, and, unsurprisingly, the staff of Migrant Clinicians Network had a lot to share, particularly around the ongoing pandemic and health justice. Here are five must-reads that MCNers shared this week.
Amy shared the Washington Post piece, “Left Without School or Day Care, Farmworkers Are Bringing Their Kids to Work.”
Amy also alerted us to this article:“CDC Expands Definition of Who Is A ‘Close Contact’ of An Individual with COVID-19," to include individuals who have 15 minutes of cumulative exposure, rather than consecutive, which has major implications for clinicians who may be exposed to several COVID-19 positive people over the course of one workday.
Del shared a new research piece from Emerging Infectious Disease from the CDC, “Coronavirus Disease among Workers in Food Processing, Food Manufacturing, and Agriculture Workplaces.”
Alma appreciated the new UN campaign against misinformation, detailed in this news alert: “UN Urges People to #PledgetoPause Before Sharing Information Online."
Weekly Win: When jails and prisons released people early to combat the pandemic, many people found themselves with nowhere to go. New York City stepped up, giving attention to the social determinants of health and the increased need of wraparound services: “'I Feel Human Again' — At Three Hotels, Formerly Incarcerated New Yorkers Get the Support They Need.”
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
