‘What to Expect When Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine’ Editable Vaccine Resources in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole
Wed, 03/31/2021 | by MCN Admin
Given the local nature of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, there is a significant need for editable vaccine resources in multiple languages to reach refugee, immigrant, and migrant communities. MCN is happy to share our new resource: ‘What to Expect When Getting the COVID-19 Vaccine’ fliers. These colorful fliers, in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole, offer a Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware-specific option to choose from or editable versions for users to insert their own state-specific information such as their state vaccine logo, vaccine sign-up website and phone number, and organization logo. Along with these fliers, MCN has created a simple ‘how-to’ video (see below) for editing the fliers. The original designs for this new resource were created by a staff member of East Coast Migrant Head Start Project who is the daughter of a farmworker, and who had once gone to an East Coast Migrant Head Start Project centers herself. The fliers were then adapted by MCN.
These new resources contain text but are also image-centric, using bold and colorful images to communicate important information regarding getting a vaccine as well as safety measures to take after being vaccinated. Specific points the flier conveys include getting a vaccine even if you have had COVID-19, that the vaccine is free for almost everyone, including immigrants, that no ID is required to get a vaccine, and that there are several versions of the vaccine, with some vaccines requiring a second dose, but that all vaccines are safe and effective. The fliers also communicate post-vaccination symptoms, a timeline estimate before the vaccine will protect patients, and the importance of continuing to wear a mask, wash your hands, and socially distance even after receiving a vaccine. The fliers end with a congratulations on doing your part in keeping yourself and other safe. Please see below for links to these new resources.
