Five on Friday: Moral Injury Among Nurses

Happy New Year from Migrant Clinicians Network! We have lots of work to do in 2022 in health justice. Here are a few resources, recommended by MCN staff, to help us push forward.

Kaethe sent around three new Viewpoint articles published this week in the Journal of the American Medical Association that propose a new national COVID-19 strategy (which you can access here, here, and here). Wilmarí gave the view from Puerto Rico, where Omicron is hitting hard: positivity rates are over 33% and tests are hard to come by. A migrant and their child

Claire shared the United Nation’s wrap-up of 2021 migration: The number of people forced to leave their homes reached a record-high 84 million, despite COVID-related travel restrictions. The report highlights the increased migration from Afghanistan and Central America, along with crises along the Mediterranean, and in Libya and Belarus. It emphasizes the role of climate change: “Weather-related crises have triggered more than twice as much displacement as conflict and violence,” the report concludes. 2021 Year in Review: Refugee, migrant numbers rise, despite travel curbs
