A LIVE WEBCAST PRESENTED BY:

  • Mara Youdelman, JD National Health Law Program

SUMMARY
As federal grant recipients, community and migrant health centers are required to comply with the requirement of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that persons who face challenges communicating in English receive meaningful access to their services.  Health centers that serve a population with a substantial proportion of Limited English Proficient (LEP) persons should develop a plan and, to the extent practicable, make arrangements for providing services to such populations in their language and in an appropriate cultural context.  This webcast provides an overview of the laws and promising practices for providing language services to LEP persons.
