This weekend, Migrant Clinicians Network staff and Board of Directors are gathering in Austin, Texas for our annual retreat. We’re going to celebrate the great success that we had in 2016 -- and plan how we are going to step up to meet the challenges of 2017. MCN offices will be closed on Monday as we dive into work together. Here are a few reads to keep you updated on the world of migrant health. What did you read this week? Let us know on Twitter or Facebook.
- Amy, Director of Environmental and Occupational Health, pulled a quote from a recent EHS Today article: "Deaths among Latino and immigrant workers - who have always faced greater risk - increased significantly, as did deaths in dangerous industries like construction and trucking."
- Amy also shared a few news pieces covering the EPA’s denial of the recent request to push back the implementation of revisions to the Worker Protection Standard.
- Juliana, Environmental and Occupational Health Program Manager, sent along the sad story, “4 children die when pesticide, water mix creates toxic gas.”
- Candace, Specialist in Clinical Systems and Women’s Health, shared an article about the daily lives of farmworker women, struggling to balance home life and farmwork, in California’s Coachella Valley.
- Jessica, Grant Writer, says of the discovery of a new organ in the human body, “This is so cool! We know so little about so little, humbling reminder :)”
Have a safe and healthy weekend.
