- Bio:
A native Texan and a proud daughter of two Mexican parents, Marcy Rodriguez (she/her) grew up speaking and reading Spanish. She fell in love with the language and culture, and always enjoyed visiting her relatives in Mexico. In 2009, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Ethnic Studies, and in 2011 she graduated with a Master’s degree in Hispanic Literature from the University of Texas at Austin.
During her two years in graduate school, Rodriguez was a Teaching Assistant where she found joy teaching students. Upon graduating in 2011 with an MA, she received her teacher certification through Texas Teaching Fellows. She was a Dual Language (Spanish/English) teacher for eight years at an elementary school. She taught various grade levels and loved every one! Rodriguez enjoyed seeing her students’ academic growth and taught all subjects. She shared her love of math and Spanish with her students. She misses her students dearly and feels privileged to have taught them.
Rodriguez was inspired to seek a new career challenge, wishing to apply her skills, love of mathematics, and experience in a different capacity while still making a difference. She read more about MCN and connected with the organization and their goal. She is now the Financial and Executive Associate, where she is responsible for all finances and works directly with the CFO. Additionally, she works with the CEO to plan meetings for the Board of Directors. In her free time, Marcy enjoys traveling with her significant other, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
