Deal for PA residents to attend East Coast Migrant Stream Forum

The Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health is offering a unique opportunity for Pennsylvanians to attend the 2014 East Coast Migrant Stream Forum, October 23-25 in Pittsburgh, PA. This East Coast Migrant Stream Forum is the oldest annual conference dedicated to improving health outcomes and healthcare delivery to migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families on the East Coast.

MCN's Medical Director contributes to a new publication from the WHO

MCN's Medical Director, Ed Zuroweste, is an author on this just published manual from the World Health Organization. This work was developed when he was detailed to the WHO for four months in 2010. IMAI District Clinician Manual: Hospital Care for Adolescents and Adults is written for clinicians working at the district hospital who diagnose and manage sick adolescents and adults in resource-constrained settings.

Global Health & Innovation Conference at Yale

The upcoming annual "Global Health & Innovation Conference," which is the world’s largest and leading global health conference as well as the largest social entrepreneurship conference, is currently accepting registration and abstracts for oral and poster presentations.

This 12th annual conference will be held on Saturday, March 28 - Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Webcast: Access to Care for Hispanic/Latino Populations

This Wednesday, HRSA has a webcast titled "Access to Care for Hispanic/Latino Populations: HRSA’s Affordable Care Act Efforts Webcast."

It will highlight "HRSA’s activities in  support of the opportunities created under the Affordable Care Act’s for millions of Hispanic/Latino Americans to get insured. Panelists will discuss HRSA funding opportunities for Hispanic/Latino communities and highlight available Spanish-language tools and resources to assist Hispanic/Latino populations."

The webcast will be on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 11:00am – 12:00pm ET.

OSHA's annual summer campaign for heat illness

For the fourth consecutive year, OSHA has announced the launch of its annual Campaign to Prevent Heat Illness in Outdoor Workers. It is aimed at raising awareness and educating workers and employers about the potential damage to work in a hot climate, providing resources and guidance to address these hazards. Workers who are at particularly high risk are those who work in industries that develop outdoors, such as agriculture, construction, landscaping and transportation.
